Memorial Day Memories

Usually Memorial day falls on or near my birthday which makes it difficult because I feel a tremendous amount of pressure to make sure all Memorial day activities are inviting, uplifting and exciting for everyone. And I don't do well under pressure. However this year, my birthday fell mid-week so Memorial day was not an issue. . . . or was it?

Since the recent news of the Heuetts' migration to Tennessee, I  knew this would probably be the last Memorial Day holiday we had together. I began to feel the pressure build. At the last minute, we decided to take on the Utah wilderness and any fish that inhibited it and go fishing. It seemed like it was a unanimous vote in favor of the wildlife adventure!

We started with a pre-fishing game of basketball

While the women sewed.

When all of that excitement was finished, we headed up the mountain!

Beautiful scenery?
check.

Women packing everything including baby thru hurricane force winds while the men set up the fishing gear?
check
and
check

Did everyone have their wind protective head gear?
check

Everyone having fun fishing while the girls sit in the car out of the cold and the wind??
check

check.

and double check.

Well it WAS memorable because the Heuett clan made a few vows that day:

1- Never again will we fish the waters of Navajo Lake and/or Duck Creek, even if the wildlife and Game department says they just freshly stocked the lakes.

2-No one will ever miss the wind in Cedar City or surrounding vicinity
and
3-Holidays are to be enjoyed watching a movie at home with some hot buttered popcorn.
Look out Memorial day 2014 . . . . or wait! Is that my birthday weekend?!?
