That's a spicy meatball!

That's right - we tried our hand at salsa this weekend . . . and I don't mean dancing! haha We've been getting tomatoes everyday, so my wonderful husband decided to make some salsa. In case that makes you cringe in disbelief, we did salsa a few years ago with a generous neighbor's donation of tomatoes and it turned out mangifique! But he decided this year he wanted a little `zing` to it. We had a small can of chipotle peppers on the shelf. My son was going to use them to make dinner for the family, so I thought 'They can't be that hot. Let's put those in'. Well, the salsa cooked, and before we bottled it, we took a little taste. Needless to say it burnt my lips, singed my eyebrows, and I couldn't speak for an hour. At that point we looked on the internet how to make it less spicy. Among about 15 different ideas, we decidedto use honey. It actually worked . . except for a dragon breath aftertaste. We decided to put in a few more tomatoes just to make sure. Now, after all of the concocting, mixing, combining and stirring we have a killer batch of salsa. Some things are worth the wait!
