1st Annual Heuett Family Adventure

We have come to the stark realization that our family will be going different directions soon, so after much thought, contemplation and discussion, we decided to start an annual Heuett family adventure.  Kinda like a family reunion but actually NOT since 'reunion' implies that we are separated by miles, and haven't seen each other in months. Which is not our case - fortunately for now.  This past weekend we decided to do something fun and daring as a family, so we went camping.  Whats daring about that you may ask? Mother nature and I have never really gotten along, so it was with much fear and trepidation that I reluctantly agreed to try my luck in the wilderness once again. I must admit that it was one of my more positive camping experiences.  No rain, no pounding the tent stakes in with the car jack because we forgot the hammer, no eating undercooked eggs and cold sandwiches. Just sunshine, food and family!

Thursday the Heuett men went up to Enterprise reservoir to get us a camping spot and do a little male bonding.  Fun and laughter ensued (I am told) as they did some fishing and added to the Heuett Family Hot Dog count.

(Always prepared for rain when we go camping)

Friday the girls arrived,

plus our little man Cannon.
I think he looks like one of the Lollipop gang in Wizard of Oz "We represent the Lollipop kids, the lollipop kids, the lollipop kids . . . " eh-um.  Kyle said it is his gangsta hat.

We fished, ate s'mores, sat by the campfire, tried to sleep on the hardest dirt in southern utah, went fishing some more and chatted incessantly.

Celeste and I got to be the designated babysitters!  We loved every minute of it!

OK - so we had help.

Lots of help.

By the end of our 1st annual Heuett Family gathering we had accomplished 3 things:
Caught 20 fish
Gained an appreciation for the pioneers and Serta mattresses
Enjoyed the company of those we love the most

Next year we will try to top it, but I am hoping fishing wont be involved. Me and mother nature aren't on THAT good of terms.

What a fun adventure! I love all the pictures - it's good to see everyone. I miss you guys! And that little Cannon is so adorable.

I hope next year you have as much fun but without the fishing. I've never understood the appeal of fishing personally, especially when you release the fish after you catch them, which is what my hubby does. At least you ended up with something for dinner!

Miss and love you!!
