Another first

As old as I am, it seems odd that even now I am still experiencing some firsts in my life.  You'd think at my age I'd been there and done all that but nope . . . one more thrilling experience to amaze you with.

This week school started . . . again!  (This is not 'the first' I was talking about) I have always loved the fall just because school starts! It makes me ecstatic!  To me it is the "Easter" of the year.  New school year, new clothes, new classes, hot hell-like weather turns cool, new professors, new classmates, new friends . . . the list goes on and on.  Fall is a time to start fresh and leave what's been wrong in the past on your transcript!  So I was thrilled this year when I wasn't going to be the only one enjoying the hoopla of a new semester.  James, Bryce, Erin Kay, Celeste, me and Brian got to party together!  It was wonderful!  Fantastic!  A shot in the arm!  I was overjoyed!  But not everyone shared my enthusiasm.

James came home from his first day of college and told me he already had an assignment for Wednesday in his human geography class.  He needed to research a specific topic online and write a one page paper about it!  He looked at me in misery and rolled his eyes.

I grabbed his shoulders and he looked me in the face.  I wanted to dance around him like snoopy

I wanted to grab his hand and have him dance with me
I wanted to throw confetti in the air
I wanted to do my dance of joy, but I refrained.  Instead I said "This isn't high school anymore."
"Ya." he sulked "No kidding."

I couldn't keep the smile from my face!  A first day of a new semester makes me giddy.

The next day it was my turn to enjoy the classroom experience and I walked into Wellness Dynamics with Celeste!  Yes - and this is where the 'first' comes in - I am taking a college course with my child!  The first day we had to introduce the person who was sitting next to us.  Piece of cake - I was sitting by my daughter.  Then the professor said if we came together, we had to get to know someone else.  Well, we didn't actually come together, but I got the gist of what she was saying and found out that Alyssa is a junior from Vancouver Washington!  Of all the luck!  Yay Washington!

So now I have homework (huge happy face here- I LOVE homework) and I can compare my answers to  Celeste's!  (TWO happy faces here!)  Life just keeps getting better and better!
