I'm not even sure what quads are, but I'm pretty sure they got worked last Saturday when our family participated in the 31 mile express relay race! 10 legs, 31 miles and over 5 hours of running!
But Hogwarts Track and Field persevered!
I'll admit, our team did have a major advantage; Erin and Bryce created a few potions and spells to get us limbered up for the race. We LOVED them! (Look out Peter Petagrew)
James started us off strong by running 4.5 miles down from the "C" (at the top of a local mountain) in 35 minutes! We were so proud of him! It was nowhere close to the first person down who ran it in 22 minutes *GAG* but it was far better than the 43 minutes it took him when he practiced last month!
But in the end, he got a t-shirt for running this leg, and isn't that what it's all about anyway?!?
Celeste threw in the ole Heuett vomit response - or should I say threw up the old vomit response - during her leg of the race.
Some days aren't good to her, but we're pretty sure she actually was fighting off the flu. We had no one else to take her leg so she dutifully ran as part of the team . . . barfing the whole way.
Fortunately her second leg was much better, her stomach had calmed and she was able to outrun the tutu's (as we affectionately called them!)
Bryce caught us up mid way through the race, and put our team back into the thick of things by running the 4th leg in 19 minutes! Look at him trucking!
His second leg wasn't as easy. He was met with anguish, torment and pain. But Bryce is a fighter and he wasn't going to let that stretch of road conquer him! He ran 3.2 miles all uphill along the highway. It was Leg 8 or as we affectionately call it: Hell.
Erin was our cheerleader, support, encouragement and on top of that she ran a wicked leg 4 and finished off the race for us with her Hallelujiah leg bringing it in for the team at the finish line! We loved everything about having her on our team!
It was misery. It was painful. It was pure torture . . . . but we think we're gonna do it again next year!
