Heuetts vs Butch Cassidy - Round 2

It was with much reluctance and hesitation that we decided to do the Butch Cassidy fun run again in Springdale Utah.  Why the uncertainty, you may ask?  Sometimes it's just good to have a weekend to rest and relaxate - which hasn't happened to us since August.
But we mustered the courage and gathered the winter garb because this was the weekend of the first big Utah snowstorm.  yay for us.  Even tho Springdale is usually balmy and warm amid frigid Utah weather, we were prepared for the worst . . . and rightly so.

When we got to our motel in Springdale, it started off with the traditional Heuett-wrestling-match-on-the-motel-bed.

Despite a few crushed jewels, and a battered shin, everyone survived.  I didnt get the best picture of Bryce holding Brian in the cradle, but that may be a post for another blog.

Soon after we were all nestled snuggly in our beds - and despite all the hurdles and dilemnas that come with sleeping in a foreign motel room - we awoke ready for the race.

We picked up our packets full of goodies and treats. This is not a photographical error.  It was pitch black outside at 7:00 am.

Then the runners were toted to the starting point while us spectators were shuttled to the finish line.  Here is how the scenery usually looks:

Here's how it looked this year:

It wasn't long before the wind brought in the rain which turned to snow.  Delightful.

Finally, the runners I that I knew and loved appeared, and Erin was in the lead!  I cheered and yelled . . .

but Bryce caught wind of my excitement and sprinted to the finish line to beat his wife by a mere few seconds.

They did great finishing 14th and 15th in a race with hundreds of competitors!

I waited with anxious anticipation for Brian to show up!  Just when I thought I was going to freeze my hinnie off (which may not have been too terribly tragic) around the corner came my honey! Finishing 30th!  Yay!

We then had a few hours to freeze while we enjoyed some ice cold beverages, nice refreshingly chilled fruits and vegetables and waited for the shuttle.

On the way home, we reminisced about memorable times together and warmed ourselves.

Now that we look back, it was fun and we had a great time with the Heuetts Jr.

It wasn't long before Brian was vowing to run it again next year.

I'll start praying for better weather.

You guys are amazing! Tell Erin I'm proud of her. I never knew she was so speedy... well, she WAS a speedy book-shelver in her day. ;-)
