You say Tomato . . .

We planted a garden by default this year.  We didn't intend to, but when our neighbor came over with several small starts, and said he had misjudged and didn't have room for all the tomatoes he bought, we took them and put them in the ground in the spot ear marked for our garden . . . i.e. planted a garden.

Now we are reaping the effects.  We have been picking tomatoes right an left.

Saturday morning we went out and picked numerous grocery bags full, and generously gave our over abundance to our nighbors.

We made some fresh salsa and then we looked at what was left.

So we got out the cold pack kettle, and the jars, and the lids and seals and went to town. We looked like a bunch of migrant workers in the steam shop.  Hours later we gazed at our reward.

Finally, the tomatoes are out of our life.  We put our feet up and breathed a deep sigh.

Today I came home from work to this.

Help.
Does anyone have the phone number to Del Monte?!?!

I'd love to have so many tomatoes...or to live close to you to help relieve you of some of your tomatoes. :) We planted a tomato plant in a pot and got a few tomatoes but nowhere near as many as you. I had dreams of making homemade salsa with our harvest, but alas, we just had the occassional tomato with our dinner some nights.

Happy Tomato Harvesting! :)
