Cedar City 31 Mile Relay Race

Don't ya just love fall?  The crisp, cool air, the smell of apples, and runners scampering down the roads!  Yes - it's true! The motivation for all the energy spent running has actually come and gone!  The goal we had worked for since May is now behind us!  Our team name was a spin off of the Nike motto, 'Just do it."  Our team name?  'Just Heuett'.  Our goal?  Not to finish last!  And we didn't . . . altho it got eerily close at one time.  Out of 27 teams, we finished 17th!  And by we, I mean Brian, Erin Jo, Kyle, Erin Kay and Bryce!  It was a nippy morning and a windy day, but the "Just Heuett" team finished with an average 9.33 minute mile!  Not bad for a bunch of Heuetts!

Altho we could dress in costumes, we only went so far as to dress up like soccer players with different countries jerseys!  We didn't come close to the Hollywood team that dressed as Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Dolly Parton, Elvis and Michael Jackson! Or out-do the zombie team, but I'm sure Brazil, Portugal, England, Italy and Mexico stood a little prouder as we ran!
Bryce ran the "angry hills' leg.  Some of you may know that Cedar isn't a very 'hilly' place, but maybe you can see the elevation of the hill behind Bryce that he had to run up.  The shirt he got for running this leg said "You can't run with the big dogs if you train with the puppies"!

Erin was the runner most like me.  We weren't sure she was gonna make it after her first leg, but she didn't let us down!  Good job Erin! - I woulda been right there with you sister!

This is my favorite race picture of Kyle.  We were all trying to wear soccer socks, but his legs got too hot, so he pushed them down!  Not so funny to have cankles now, huh Kyle?

Erin Jo was the most in shape for this race, but it was funny because after everyone had run their leg, this is the position they would assume.  Hands on knees, head down, and breathing hard!

Next year we may do it again! But our team name may be "The Oscar Meyer Weiners" with our motto as "Bet ya wish you were one" or "Run your buns off!"
